Hey, Soror!  I just wanted to let you know what a great blog you have.  I have been on vacation this week and reading you, Brown Sugar and Brutha-Code’s blogs have kept me entertained the entire time!

I’m a new blogger (about 2 weeks now) and I possess NONE of you guys’ combination of wit, sarcasm and humor, but I am absolutely loving this.  I also convinced one my LS’s to begin a blog.  Keep it coming!

Olivia Pope Is Basic. Yeah I Said It.

**blog post taken from a Tumblr that I wrote a few months back and it ties in with what I meant on our latest podcast about my problem with Shonda Rhimes’ heroines. This isn’t specifically about Olivia Pope, but all of the mainstream feminine characters that Shonda gives us. If Olivia was one of my girlfriends, I would say the exact same thing to her face. I am not asking for perfect women. I enjoy complex characters. But I am weary of these characters always seeming to lead with their vulnerable vaginas. That simplifies us and we are so much more than that.
